Cupid’s Arrow

The rye whiskey's spicy, bold flavor pairs beautifully with the tartness of the raspberries, while the fresh mint adds a refreshing herbal touch. The lemon juice brightens up the drink, and the simple syrup balances out the tartness of the berries. If you top it with soda, it becomes a light and refreshing smash.
2 oz rye whiskey
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)
6-8 fresh raspberries
Ice
Club soda (optional, to top)
Mint sprig and raspberries on a skewer (for garnish)
- 1. Muddle the raspberries and mint: In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh raspberries and mint leaves. Muddle them gently to release their flavors.
- 2. Add the rye whiskey, lemon juice, and simple syrup: Pour in the rye whiskey, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup.
- 3. Shake: Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously until well-chilled.
- 4. Strain: Double strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice (to remove raspberry seeds and mint leaves).
- 5. Optional soda top: If you'd like a lighter, fizzier drink, top with a splash of club soda.
- 6. Garnish: Garnish with a sprig of mint or a few fresh raspberries on top.
